The Great Caesar

Julius Caesar was a very important man in Rome. He claimed to be descended from Romulus, the first king of Rome. Caesar wanted to be one of the consuls of Rome. But he needed to learn more about public speaking so the people would vote him to be consul. He went on a ship to an island with a rhetoric teacher but he was captured by pirates! Caesar and the pirates talked with each other about what Rome would pay to have Caesar back. As soon as Caesar got back he took an army and three ships and captured the pirates. Caesar still wanted to be consul of Rome, but he was chosen to govern Spain. One day Caesar was in a library looking at a book about Alexander the Great (see Alexander the Great, part 1.) Caesar burst into tears because he was not as important as Alexander. Later Caesar went back to Rome and convinced the consuls, Pompey and Crassus, to rule together as the triumverate. But Caesar still did not pay attention to the senate.
