Glad-(not to be)-iators

The gladiators were criminals and prisoners that fought in Rome. The biggest place they fought in was the Colosseum. The Colosseum had different levels for different people. The lowest was for the emperor and the senators. Level 2 was for officers and other governors, 3 was for regular people (including soldiers), 4 for the slaves, and 5 for the girls and women. There are basically 2 kinds of gladiators- heavy armed(1) and light armed (2). The retiarius is a class 2, probably the most common of the gladiators. Their main weapon is a net, to bring his opponent down. If he was a knight he would also bring his enemy down with his spear- a trident. But all he wore was a loincloth (kind of like underwear), a belt and a shoulder guard, and no helmet. I guess the murmillo would be a class 2, but he has more than the retiarius. He has a belt and loincloth too of course, and a small sword and round shield. He also has lower leg guards, a shoulder piece and a helmet. Most people say the hoplomachus is a 1, but still he is light enough to hop ( it makes sense!!!!!). Anyway  he has pants, leather (maybe) shorts and a belt with one of those little sword thingies. He has it since he has a spear and small shield, a helmet and a shoulder guard. A real 1 is the secutor- with a giant shield, small sword, leg guards and an arm protectior. He has a helmet with two eyeholes.(The murmillo and hoplomachus helmets have holes all over.) He also has an armpiece and a sword.
